- McCain’s proposed health insurance plan would replace the current tax breaks for employer-sponsored health insurance with an across-the-board tax credit of $2,500 for individuals, and $5,000 for families. With the average family paying 12,000 per year in premiums, many of the 158 million Americans who are covered through their employers would be left without the means to get health insurance.
- McCain’s health care plan does nothing to address rising health care costs, or to extend health care to those without health insurance, 383,000 of whom are Minnesotans.
